Joseph William Doctor, also known as Howie by his friends, is a BS Electronics Engineering student at EEEI and is currently running for Magna Cum Laude. He got an internship at DW Morgan, a logistics company offering transportation, logistics and inventory services. Aside from studying, he is serving as the President of the UP Anime Manga Enthusiasts (UP AME) and has also dedicated his time to VolTAGEEE, the official volunteer corps of UP EEEI. He also participated in the ADI Virtual Hackathon where he ended as one of the eight finalists.

What are some of your advocacies that you may want to share to our EEEI Community?
” I believe that the key to success is good mental health. Right now, mental health problems run rampant in our society. We can ease this problem by developing relationships with our peers. Never be afraid to approach others to help you with your problems.”
Why did you choose to be a part of UP EEEI?
“Growing up, I have always wanted to study at UP Diliman. By High School, I needed to decide my course of choice. Since I loved technology, it was easy to choose Electronics Engineering. This is my main reason for joining UP EEEI. To further assure me of my decision, I researched UP EEEI. I found out about its wide array of research laboratories and its high passing rate for the ECE Board Exam. With these in mind, I became determined to join UP EEEI.”
What do you love about being part of the EEEI Community?
“As soon as I was in UP EEEI, I felt very excited. From the lecture halls to the laboratories, it was all impressive. Apart from its amenities, the staff and professors are also very friendly and competent. All of them are very easy to approach, and you will be sure that you will learn during your stay in the institute Your fellow students in UP EEEI are also welcoming. During the face-to-face classes, you can easily make friends with your classmates. No need to feel reserved around them. Even now with the online setup, they made a way for the UP EEEI students to get to know each other using the Discord server “dEEEscord”.”
What is your message to all the members of the EEEI community?
“As a fellow EEEI student, I know that there will hard times in your stay here, but let me tell you that it will be worth it in the end. If you ever feel everything is too heavy for you, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Both your classmates and professors are there to help you. No need to be scared.
I would also like to thank the EEEI community for assisting me throughout these years. To my friends, thank you for always being there and tutoring me whenever I was unsure of my understanding. To the EEEI staff and professors, thank you for always being understanding. Every time I have questions and clarifications, you all have never failed to respond. I can also see how you are very thoughtful of the students and thinking of their welfare. Lastly, thank you to the profs who are always available.”
