The University of the Philippines Diliman’s Center for Integrated Circuit and Device Research (CIDR) Program, in partnership with the University of the Philippines Los Baños, held a three-day hybrid workshop from May 14 to 16, 2025, aimed at strengthening microelectronics education and research collaboration in the country.

The event brought together students and faculty members from CIDR mirror lab partner universities across the Philippines. Day 1 (May 14), held at UP Los Baños, featured a series of technical lectures and industry talks from key partners: Analog Devices Inc., Embedded Silicon Technology Solutions Corp., and Xinyx Design Consultancy and Services Inc. In the afternoon, CIDR researchers delivered introductory technical talks on Analog IC Design, Digital IC Design, Microfabrication, and Assembly, Test, and Packaging. This workshop was designed to spark interest in semiconductor careers and encourage students to pursue graduate studies in the field.

Days 2 and 3 (May 15–16) took place in Laiya, Batangas, focusing on faculty development. Faculty members and officials from 8 partner schools participated in workshops on the CIDR Mirror Labs Framework, upcoming collaborative research projects, and joint academic planning. The participating institutions included Pangasinan State University (Urdaneta, Pangasinan), Mariano Marcos State University, (Batac, Ilocos Norte), Adamson University (Metro Manila), Colegio de Muntinlupa (Metro Manila), University of San Carlos (Talamban, Cebu), Technological University of the Philippines (Metro Manila), FAITH Colleges (Tanauan, Batangas), and UP Los Baños – Department of Engineering Science (DES) and Department of Electrical Engineering (DEE).

Now in its third year, the DOST-funded CIDR Program continues to strengthen partnerships with universities across the nation, aiming to develop a more capable microelectronics education ecosystem that supports the Philippine semiconductor industry.
